"You're insane for taking this approach; no-one will know what niche to follow you for!"
As someone who first embraced the online universe from the point of view of an artist before doubling back, I learned a lot about ‘how to grow a business’ when I realised the music industry was taking a hit. So I can see the scene from two perspectives…
Sure, it’s advantageous for the business owner to niche down; this positions them as authoritative figures in their sector, allowing them to echo the message of their brand over & over again.

But artists don’t have brand messages, and niching down to us looks very different! Let’s invent a fictional metal band and call them “Amulet of Death” then let’s say they’ve released their new music video to the song “Blood Letters”… unless they already have a roaring fanbase, their music is likely to hit a ceiling of a few hundred views very quickly, simple because no one has heard of their name, or their song - that means no one is searching for it and when it shows up on people's feeds, what to expect from the video reamins unlcear!
After seeing similar results a few times, they decide to hold a band meeting, discussing ways to grow their presence on social media, when a question of “what can each of us do besides music?” begins circling the room… It turns out that the lead guitarist loves cooking a specific pasta dish, while the lead singer is secretly an avid fan of playing golf.
Their next two video releases “Goth on a Golf Course” and “Metalhead Makes Gormet Pasta” go viral!! This is because the audience their material is being passed amongst immediately understand what they’re in for and become curious. They have also found a way to appeal to absolutely anyone, not just followers of metal music, and this level of exposure naturally leads to the band gaining new fans, who loved the music they heard in the background of their viral videos.

I call this approach “building a culture” and while it hasn’t cottoned on as a thing yet, I get the strong feeling it’s about to!
I never follow or subscribe to people who say things like “if you want more of exactly the same thing over & over” because I don’t! The algorithm on all of my feeds is trying to force me all the while into a samey box to make life easy for itself, but my human brain doesn’t work that way. I get very bored very quickly of exposure to monotony, so the last thing I’m going to do is actively subscribe to it!
It took tedious shadow-work, several crystal readings and a heightened sense of self-awareness to realise that boxing myself in to one single passion wasn’t going to work for me. I just love all aspects of life too much to toss anything aside in lue of another, besides I thrive on 'the unexpected' and gambling on an adventure sounds way more fun to me than organising a sure-fire route to success.
As an individual I’m driven to become financially free so I'm capable of providing for my nearest & dearest, I also dream of making an impact on society but have decided to keep an open mind on what form that takes.
As part of Mia & the Moon, nothing brought tears to my eyes like receiving messages from fans explaining how our music had helped them through times of darkness… but it wasn’t planned that way! We never sat down for a band meeting to map out “therapy” as a goal for our art, it just happened as a result of our persistence & random self-expression.
In the words of ‘Fight Club’ sometimes it’s about letting go of the wheel. My ethos has taken many twists & turns during my time as a human, but I’ve arrived at the sound conclusion - as long as your heart is in the right place & your head is screwed firmly on your own shoulders, you can’t fail - because failure itself is subjective anyway! Every law of attraction book under the sun will tell you to keep specific targets in mind, but as long as I can maintain survival in order to keep creating the art that aligns with my soul, I’ve already won!
For as long as I can remember I’ve loved what I do so much it doesn’t feel like ‘work’ at all. Every entrepreneur you ever meet will tell you, there’s no point pursuing a job if you can’t visualise it becoming your lifestyle. And while I may not have yet crafted myself a clear, stable career path yet (that I know I can stick to forever), what I know for certain is that I love my life and I trust that my higher purpose will unveil itself, as long as I just keep being me.
Monotony doesn’t suit my spirit and I don’t think I’m alone on that, so if you feel the way I do and would love to be part of my strange, ever evolving universe of magic, art & awesomeness, then come and be you, right here & now, by subscribing below…
Let’s be ‘The Lost Ones’ together and tap into our higher power in our own time, because that’s the common thread running through everything I do; from the practise of art, magic & self-care, to the statement of stand-out fashion and what it means to empower those around me - I live to break moulds, challenge normality & carve revolution; however large or small. So come join my weirdo tribe and let’s start a revolution inside you…
